Consultation processes: clarifying different views
Jane frequently contributes to government consultation processes by chairing public meetings and focused discussions between government and industry, as well as environmental organisations. She has increasingly been asked to undertake in-depth analysis of public submissions and provide specialised guidance to government projects teams tasked with forging a pathway through widely diverse views and positions. Jane has also assisted a number of industry organisations develop their positions in relation to government consultation processes.

Facilitation: resolving differences
More than a decade of facilitating multi-party processes has provided Jane with the skills and experience to work with a wide range of people and organisations to resolve the complex challenges presented by natural resource issues. Jane specialises in chairing multi-party working groups, resolving differences within project teams, and facilitating targeted discussions between government and industry, as well as with the various branches of government. Jane also offers experience and skills in dispute resolution, both in terms of designing processes and mediating particular issues.

Jane’s training in philosophy means she is well equipped to deal with the complexities and rigors of policy development at the national level. While Jane particularly enjoys working in natural resource policy she has worked in a wide range of fields over the years, including forays into education and accident compensation policy. Whilst working for central government Jane led policy processes for waste management (including hazardous waste), sustainable land management and fisheries management. Since establishing a consultancy career Jane has contributed to policy processes in biosecurity, sustainable development, waste management, oceans policy, aquaculture and fisheries.
