NZPI AWARD

Gerard wins the NZPI award for District and Regional Plan Best Practice 2017!

In 2015 and 2016 Gerard was contracted by Bay of Plenty Regional Council to redraft the Natural Hazards provisions of its RPS following appeals against the notified version.  Working with a range of stakeholders and other specialists, Gerard developed new, risk-based planning provisions that were eventually introduced as Change 2 to the RPS and made operative in 2016.  The approach is an innovative, quantitative approach to assessing risk based on the work of Wendy Saunders of GNS. Enfocus thanks the NZPI for the award and the Bay of Plenty Regional Council for the opportunity to work on this ground-breaking project.  A special thanks to Martin Butler who led the project with tenacity and determination to ensure low likelihood, high consequence hazards were considered in planning decisions.
